  FOCUS ON SCOTLAND
MOVING THE FLOUR!
ADM Milling’s location in Edinburgh, is the largest of seven flour mills across the country and forms part of the world’s largest agricultural and ingredients business. The mill processes 25 tonnes of wheat per hour into flour and supplies many of the UK’s biggest bakery brands.
Not everything moves through a flour mill via chutes, conveyors, or automated
machinery, hence the mill requires
a heavy-duty goods lift for moving equipment and materials from floor to floor within the building.
To ensure the essential goods lift in ADM’s flour mill performed to the required standards, a performance and signalisation upgrade was required.
The upgrade work had been awarded
to Scottish based, Omega Lifts. The 5000kg goods lift upgrade, included
a Lester Controls ALMEGA II traction controller, new car operating and landing call stations with position indicators.
COMPLETED, TESTED AND RUNNING PERFECTLY ALL PARTIES DELIGHTED
Covered in our first issue of NewsLesters, Lester Controls Northern Team have been working alongside Glasgow based, Classic Lifts, with regards to the supply and specification of the ALMEGA II
lift controllers and various ancillary items required for the modernisation of four lifts.
This iconic building located in Glasgow’s Central Business District had recently changed hands and subsequently
the decision was made to undertake
a substantial modernisation of the passenger lifts. Following on from the site survey undertaken by Lester Controls with Classic Lifts’ team, we assisted with the four car ALMEGA II group controller specifications prior to their design
and manufacture. Now installed, the
controllers are managing four, 13-person, 1,000kg lifts running at 2m/s.
As part of the modernisation Lester Controls also supplied CEDES shaft
positioning, full plug & play Flexibus shaft wiring for all four shafts, individual Automatic Rescue Devices (ARD), new TFT indicators and push buttons.
