 FOCUS ON SCOTLAND
ON-GOING MODERNISATION
SCOTLAND’S NATIONAL PUBLIC BUILDINGS
Over the past years, Lester Controls ALMEGA I & II lift control systems have been chosen for use in some of Scotland’s highest profile public, commercial and residential buildings.
One of the projects that we have been assisting with is a public building with multiple lifts, requiring a staggered works programme spanning several years. The project being undertaken by Omega
Lift Services started in 2019 with the modernisation of three lifts, the next
NOT ONLY BISCUITS
Since opening our facilities in
Glasgow in 2019, Lester Controls has continued building relationships with Scotland’s regionally based, national lift companies and independent family run businesses. Typical of this is the family run Eternal Elevators, operating from Linlithgow serving Edinburgh, Glasgow and central Scotland.
Like many in the industry, we have seen a significant increase in the number of care homes and sheltered housing lift modernisations being undertaken. Most of these have been for low-rise hydraulic passenger lifts that use one of several quality valve systems for driving the lift.
phase completed in 2020 was for a further three lifts. The 2021 phase again relates to three lifts, the largest of which has a capacity of 1600kg and has just been scheduled for completion this summer.
Throughout the project, our design teams have worked closely with Omega Lift Services on site with surveys and through installation to ensure seamless integration is achieved for each modernisation.
The six previous modernisations and the three due for completion this year, are all using ALMEGA II controllers fitted with Magnetek inverters, regeneration modules and remote monitoring. Along with our controllers we are suppling full signalisation, including car and landing stations fitted with Lester pushes,
TFT indicators, and CEDES absolute positioning systems.
Typical of these essential hydraulic passenger lifts that have undergone modernisations, which included ALMEGA II controller replacements, undertaken by Eternal Elevators, are those located at Pittendriech Nursing Home, Glencairn Nursing Home, Cranford Care Home
and
just a few. However, it is not only residential properties that feature in Eternal Elevators portfolio, we have also supplied ALMEGA II controllers for lift modernisations for both McVities
and Vodafone.
