OUR WORK
LESTER CONTROLS’ GROWING ACTIVITY IN THE INFRASTRUCTURE SECTOR
One of the most unforgiving environments for lifts and escalators to operate in, is undoubtedly, that relating to the buildings involved with public infrastructure. In this environment, having a long lifespan and high levels of reliability are essential for both lifts and escalators to withstand constant usage during operational periods.
Although over the past months, most of the UK’s public transport infrastructure terminals have not returned to full service, many of our customers have continued to work on critical, ongoing modernisation projects. Maintenance and repair work has also continued
to be undertaken to ensure lifts and escalators remain fully functional, even though in some instances, such as airports, equipment has been virtually stood down.
For well over a decade, Lester Controls have been very proud of our success in supplying site specific, ALMEGA I and subsequently ALMEGA II lift controllers for rail stations, airports, and port terminals. With the introduction of the ALMEGA II escalator controller, our
success has continued, and we have now provided, and are providing lift, escalator and moving walk controllers for use at London Heathrow, London Stanstead, Manchester, Bristol, and Lanzarote Airports.
One of our recent and shared successes with one of our customer's, was to specify and manufacture several ALMEGA II escalator controllers for use at
Gatwick Airport.
In Ireland, Lester Controls now have 16 ALMEGA II lift controllers in service at multiple stations for Irish Rail.
In all the above cases, Lester Controls’ ALMEGA II controllers have been used as part of a modernisation project where reliability, service life and ease of integration with existing OEM equipment are paramount. In each case, our design team have worked closely
with the various customers who have been awarded these high profile and demanding projects.
Whilst infrastructure projects play only a small part within our manufacturing facilities, they are nevertheless a testimony to the confidence our customers have in the reliability of Lester Controls’ ALMEGA II controllers.
  LANZAROTE AIRPORT
Sun, Sea and a Lester Controller, what else would you want from a holiday?
Airports at holiday destinations experience wide variations in passenger flow, and one of the wants of a holiday traveller is to have an easy pathway to and from departures and arrivals. Moving walks and escalators play a significant role in helping this to happen.
To help the burdened tourists, Lester Controls have supplied Schindler Spain with several ALMEGA II escalator controllers for a modernisation project at Lanzarote Airport. Much to the disappointment of our Technical Support Team there was no need to visit for assistance!
