RESIDENTIAL
INNER LONDON SOCIAL HOUSING - STOKE NEWINGTON
Many of the UK’s local authority owned, residential blocks, built several decades ago, are now owned and managed by Housing Associations. Typical of these are Garland House and Millington House, both residential blocks in Stoke Newington, N16. These leasehold blocks of mixed tenure homes include private ownership.
Liftec Lifts working with the housing association, had been commissioned to undertake several major modernisation projects within their social housing portfolio. Two of the properties were located on the Kenway Estate, which
is currently undergoing a regeneration programme of refurbishment and construction of new homes, combined with landscaped communal areas.
Working with the project team at Liftec, we assisted with the build specification
for each of the properties featured in
this article. The first was for a heavy-duty passenger lift in Garland House, a 6-storey block, that was having a new LiftEquip geared traction drive, GAL car and landing door equipment and Atwell International safety gear. Lester Controls supplied an ALMEGA II traction controller a full shaft kit including CEDES absolute positioning system, terminal limits, trailing flexes
and car top control, plus our own TFT43 indicators and voice synthesiser.
The second property and directly opposite to Garland House is Millington House, again, a residential block but this time a 5-storey building, served by a hydraulic lift. Working with the Liftec project team, the ALMEGA II hydraulic controller was specified and configured to manage a Bucher VF hydraulic system along with GAL car and landing door equipment and Atwell International safety gear.
LIFT MODERNISATION AT CATLEY COURT - BEXHILL
Like many locations on the South Coast, Bexhill in Sussex has a
large, retired population, many of whom reside in managed retirement properties. Catley Court, part of Southern Housings property portfolio is one. The 4-storey retirement property consists of 38 studio flats served by a hydraulic passenger lift.
Along with several other projects of this kind being undertaken by Liftec Lifts, the requirement was for an almost full modernisation of the lift.
This included the installation of a new Bucher VF hydraulic system, hydraulic ram, a Lester's ALMEGA II hydraulic controller, Wittur lift door entrances and a full car reline.
As with all of our controller builds, we worked closely with our clients, in this instance it was with the Liftec project and installation team to ensure a smooth integration took place with ALMEGA II and the equipment it was to manage.
